TT in Maryland, July 2011
To our much loved international
Sheng Zhen community,
The International Sheng Zhen Society is happy to announce that
our
next Teacher Training will take place in the state of Maryland,
in
the United States, from Sunday the 10th of July through Tuesday
the
19th of July. The location is about 30 minutes northwest of
Baltimore
City, out in the countryside.
For the training, Master Li will focus primarily on Hanuman
Qigong
for the Heart. This is a deeply moving standing form. We are
likely
to practice other Sheng Zhen forms during the training as well.
As many of you know, teacher training is more than just teacher
training. It is also a way to deepen your Sheng Zhen practice
and to
deepen your connection to the Sheng Zhen community. Those who
already
have extensive experience as Sheng Zhen teachers, or who have
studied
for many hours with Master Li or a certified teacher, may take
the
training as an actual teacher training participant. Others who
are a
bit newer to the practice may take the training as a seminar
participant. Either way, the experience is the same for all. You
may
view on the application form the specific requirements for
taking the
training. (The application is posted on the shengzhen.org Web
site.)
For this 9-day training, we will be staying at Pearlstone
Conference
and Retreat Center. Pearlstone has sleeping and meeting rooms as
well
as organic gardens, goats and chickens. Our practice room has a
nice
rustic view of a hillside, trees, and pond. A trail runs through
a
wooded area that surrounds the campus. There is Wi-Fi access in
all
of the rooms.
Pearlstone serves mostly organic food, and in July, a lot of it
is
likely to come from their own gardens. They are able to meet the
needs of people who require a gluten-free diet, a wheat-free
diet,
and a vegetarian and vegan diet.
In July, it will definitely be hot. Pearlstone has air
conditioning
in all the rooms. Most people will have double rooms, but there
is a
possibility that we will have to put three people in some rooms.
Please send your application as soon as possible for the best
chance
of guaranteeing a double room. Each room has its own bathroom.
There
are a few bathrooms that are wheelchair accessible.
About the location: Pearlstone is about three miles away from a
tiny
little area called Reisterstown. The main street there has a lot
of
antique stores and several restaurants. Baltimore City is about
30
minutes or so south, and Baltimore Washington International
Airport,
or BWI, about 40 minutes away. If you are planning to spend time
in
the area before or after the training, there are lots of
different
kinds of places to visit. Washington D.C. and Annapolis are
about an
hour away from Baltimore; New York City is a 2.5-hour train ride.
Beaches in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey are
about
three hours away. The countryside is lush and green, and the
cities
offer wonderful cultural opportunities. There is a direct flight
daily on British Airways to BWI from London. Southwest Airlines
has a
large hub at BWI, and many other major airlines fly there as
well.
The training will begin at dinner on the 10th, and it will end
at
lunch on the 19th. Do plan to stay through the 19th if at all
possible.
